A MAN has been banned from driving and was ordered to pay thousands of pounds after failing to identify a driver for a series of driving offences.
Murati Hamit, of High Street, Middlesex, was sentenced at Colchester Magistrates’ Court in his absence yesterday.
The 25-year-old was initially written to earlier this year, after being asked to identify the driver of an Audi A1 which had allegedly committed 21 driving offences during December 2017.
Hamit failed to provide the identity of the driver for the 21 offences and was charged with these offences, resulting in 126 penalty points on his licence and a 12-month driving ban.
He will have to pay fines adding up to £2,660, a victim surcharge and other costs.
