Colchester museums are offering residents a chance to win a year’s free entry to Colchester Castle.

The museum is celebrating the launch of its new residents’ pass which allows people living in the borough to access the historic castle all year round after paying for one standard entrance.

A total of 2,083 resident passes have been sold this year.

To celebrate the success of the project, Colchester Museums isnow offering four Colcestrians the opportunity to win their own resident’s pass for a year.

To be in with a chance of winning you need to like Colchester museum’s Facebook page and share your best picture or artwork of Colchester Castle along with the hashtags #LoveColchesterCastle #ResidentPass.

The competition will be judged by representatives from Colchester Castle as well as Colchester Council’s deputy leader Tim Young. Mr Young (Lab), who is also councillor responsible for business and culture, encouraged residents to take advantage of the opportunity.

He said: “This is a great opportunity to get together and celebrate one of Colchester’s finest historic attractions.

“How many locals have walked past and admired the castle but never stepped across the ancient threshold and discovered what lies within?

“I’m looking forward to seeing some unusual shots of the castle or even original artwork that shows why you #LoveColchesterCastle so much.”

The competition runs from 9am on Monday until midnight on Monday October 8.

You must live in the borough of Colchester to enter.

Winners will be announced on October 15.
