AN APPEAL has been made by Maldon's Tesco store for people and organisations to take part in their Fairshare programme.
Tesco now runs a nationwide programme where leftover food from the day's selling is donated to charities and other organisations before it expires.
People and organisations wanting to make use of the spare food going must be able to demonstrate they have the desired means to store and use the food in a hygienic way.
A spokesman for the store said: "This programme is a great way to help our produce go further and not be wasted, and is a good opportunity for any charity or body to make use of extra food stocks to distribute to good causes in the Maldon region."
