A sunset parade will be held in Maldon to mark the VE anniversary.
Residents are invited to join Maldon District Council in a ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Friday, May 8 in the Amphitheatre, Promenade Park, Maldon.
Veterans, represented by the Maldon Royal British Legion, will watch a sunset parade by some of the local cadet forces and the Union Flag will be lowered.
The vice chairman of the district council will read a special tribute to remember those who gave their lives at home and abroad, and whose sacrifice enables us to enjoy the peace we have today A small lighting ceremony at 9.30pm will then offer a shared moment of reflection.
This will coincide with a national lighting event.
