Sports enthusiasts can celebrate after contracts promising refurbishment and new facilities for the district’s leisure centres were officially signed.
From October 1, Places for People Leisure will become Maldon District Council’s new leisure facilities partner and will run Maldon’s Blackwater Leisure Centre and the Dengie Hundred Leisure Centre, in Burnham, after signing the new ten-year contract on Thursday.
Maldon District Council is investing just under £2million in the centres.
Councillor Mark Durham, Chairman of the Council’s Community Services Committee, said: “It’s very exciting and goes hand in hand with the £2million investment to refurbish the Blackwater Leisure Centre, to maybe put in a new flume and extend the gym and to renovate the Dengie Hundred Centre too.”
