Despite traditional events being cancelled, Maldon Christmas lights have been switched on as the town prepares for the festive period.
Mayor Jhual Abdul Hafiz and his wife Shamema Begum turned the lights on from Moot Hall balcony yesterday (November 24).
Usually the high street would be filled with residents ringing in the season but all events had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Maldon District Council announced earlier this month that late night shopping would still take place and they would hold free parking from 2pm on Thursday in the lead up to Christmas.
