SOUTH Woodham Ferrers could be home to a super surgery site by March 2019.
The town is served by three surgeries – Greenwood Surgery, in Tylers Ride, Kingsway Surgery, in Kings Way, and Brickfields Surgery, in Brickfields Road.
A business case to move all three surgeries on to a single site, along with other community services, has been approved.
The surgeries would remain entirely independent, but would be able to share resources and certain areas of expertise if needed.
Dr John Cormack, GP at Greenwoods, said: “I think patients are very keen to keep their surgeries. Most of the patients in the town are on first name basis with their GP, and that is something I think they are keen to keep hold of.”
The full business case is set to be approved in March. Construction of the new site will then begin, and that is expected to take up to a year.
