POLICE are warning motorists to avoid the A414 at Danbury following a serious crash.
A two vehicle crash on the road has left two people injured.
A man in his 80s was trapped in a vehicle and freed by firefighters.
He, along with the driver of the other vehicle, a woman in her 30s, received treatment from ambulance crews.
Essex Police, the East of England Ambulance Service and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service are all in attendance.
The public are being warned to avoid the area.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Crews were called to a road traffic collision between two vehicles.
"On arrival firefighters reported that a man in his 80s was trapped. Firefighters worked to release him by 4.55pm.
"The man, and the driver of the other vehicle - a female in her 30s - were left in the care of the Ambulance Service."
