Motorists have been reassured that contractors working to link a prospective windfarm to the electricity network will strive to keep disruption to a minimum.

UK Power Networks has been contracted to lay underground cables in both Bradwell and Tillingham on behalf of energy giant RWE nPower Renewables, ahead of construction of a ten-turbine wind farm at Hockley Farm in Bradwell.

Michael Williams, project manager at RWE nPower Renewables, said: “We are working closely with the electricity distribution company UK Power Networks and their contractor to ensure that any possible disruption is kept to the very minimum.”

Work is due to begin on Monday in Redding Lane, Tillingham, which is expected to be closed for 23 days.

Maldon Road, in Bradwell, Brook Road, in Tillingham, and Bradwell Road, between Bradwell and Tillingham, will also be closed for long periods between July and September.

Less lengthy work in Tillingham Road, Tillingham, and Maldon Road, Bradwell, between the junctions with Waterside Road and Bradwell Road, has had to be rescheduled, with start dates yet to be confirmed.

Diversions and two-way traffic light systems will be used to manage the various closures.
