THE contractor responsible for decommissioning Bradwell power station has scooped a national prize.
Magnox was named as Macro Employer of the Year in the National Training Awards at a ceremony in London on Wednesday.
Judges were impressed with the company’s partnership with Radwise, which saw 40 staff at the power station earn qualifications as radiological protection technicians to address a national shortage.
Site director Dick Sexton said: “We are thrilled to have received this award and for our company to have been recognised in this way.
“We knew that to secure training and skills for the future, we needed to start in the classroom and follow on with on-the-job training.
“Our training programme has allowed us to focus on developing, building and sustaining world-class skills in nuclear safety, while filling a skills gap, ensuring safety and saving money.”
