THE owner of a dog abandoned at Maldon’s Promenade Park has been criticised.

Female German shepherd Gypsy was discovered tied up outside the park’s public toilets on August 27.

The animal, believed to be about six years old, was rescued by the RSPCA and is now being cared for at the charity’s Danaher Animal Centre, in Wethersfield, near Braintree.

RSPCA inspector Steve Craddock, who collected the dog, said: “She is a lovely dog – very calm and very friendly. It is unbelievable that anyone would just abandon a beautiful dog like this.”
