ONE of the men who died in a plane crash last week was an experienced pilot with the RAF.
Flight lieutenant Simon Hulme, 33, was in the Yak two-seater plane when it crashed into the private fishing lake off Ulting Lane, Langford, on Thursday April 28.
Mr Hulme, who lived near Cirencester, was a pilot in 30 Squadron Hercules, based at RAF Lyneham, and was regularly deployed in support of colleagues in Afghanistan.
He had been in the RAF for 12 years, and was pilot section leader as well as the squadron’s training officer.
It is not known whether Mr Hulme was the pilot or passenger of the plane, which was flying in formation with two other aircraft when it is believed to have clipped a tree and plunged into the lake.
The flight was not connected with Mr Hulme’s role in the RAF.
The other man who died in the crash, a 43-year-old British man who lived in Holland, has not yet been named.
