A CASE of swine flu has been reported at Thurstable School in Tiptree.
It was confirmed on Tuesday (July 14) that a female pupil in year ten is thought to have the disease.
Jenny Southworth, PA to the school’s headteacher, Miles Bacon, said the girl had been on work experience when they heard she had been taken ill.
“She is not currently in school so we don’t know anymore details than that,” she said.
Mrs Southworth said she is not aware of any other pupils at the school in Maypole Road having swine flu.
Reports of suspected cases at Baynards Primary School in Townsend Road, Tiptree, have been refuted.
Karen Hockney, office manager, said a ten-year-old girl was sent home on Monday but her mother has since confirmed she is now well and up and about, but letters have been sent to parents.
She said: “We have warned them to be extra vigilant as there are cases in the community.”
