ENJOY a beer festival where all the varieties are brewed locally.

Martin Park, landlord at the Station Arms, Southminster - the Camra (Campaign for Real Ale) Essex pub of the year -, has organised the three day festival which will begin on Friday January 30.

25 different beers will be on offer with each and every one being brewed in Essex as the pub supports the Camra ‘LocAle’ drive.

The idea of ‘LocAle' is to encourage pubs to stock at least one locally produced real ale to improve the local economy and let the public know where their beer comes from.

Mr Park said: “It will be locally brewed beer supporting quality local breweries such as Crouch Vale in South Woodham Ferrers, Farmers’ Ales of Maldon, Mighty Oak of Maldon and Wibblers brewery of Mayland.

“We run two beer festivals anyway and this is something we are happy to promote.”

Mike Woods, chairman of the Dengie branch of Camra, said: “I think it is very encouraging for local business. It is a good beer festival and quite a few people travel to go to it.”

Mr Park will be receiving the plaque for Essex pub of the year at the opening of the festival which finishes on February 1.
