Rail passengers are facing delays and alterations this evening after a person was taken ill on a train in Essex.

The incident happened at Hatfield Peverel on the 3.53pm Ipswich to London Liverpool Street service today (November 3).

All lines have since reopened, but services running through Hatfield Peverel may be delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised.

Greater Anglia says disruption is expected to continue until around 7.15pm.

Services between London Liverpool Street and Braintree, Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich and Norwich are among those affected.

Passengers have been warned that trains may be subject to delays, short-notice alterations and cancellations.

Greater Anglia and Network Rail apologised to passengers whose journeys have been affected.

Advance purchase ticket holders can travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled, according to the operator.

Passengers delayed by 15 minutes or more may also be eligible for compensation through Greater Anglia's Delay Repay scheme.

Specific alterations can be checked through the Greater Anglia JourneyCheck service.
