PART of Fambridge Road in Maldon will close for six days while water connection work is carried out.

Essex County Council has published a temporary traffic order for the closure, which is scheduled to begin on October 24, 2026.

The closure will run for about 240 metres south-east from the Friars Lane junction.

Essex and Suffolk Water will carry out the work under permit EN013317492A.

The closure will protect the public and workers during the water connection work.

Drivers should follow signs at the site and check one.network because the dates may change.

Drivers can use the A414 and B1018 as an alternative route in either direction.

Access to Fambridge Road will be maintained for authorised vehicles only.

The temporary closure order will take effect on October 8, 2026.

It may remain in force for up to 18 months or until the work is finished, whichever comes first.

The order is being made under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The council has also confirmed a new 30mph limit on part of Vicarage Lane in Tillingham.

The limit began on October 5 and applies from a point about 165 metres west of the B1021 South Street junction.

It continues west for about 309 metres to Stowes Lane and the end of the publicly maintained highway.
