An Essex village has appeared on a list of the rudest place names in the UK.
More than half of Brits say the UK has some of the world’s funniest road and village names — but they can distract drivers.
Cheeky road names have distracted 65 per cent of drivers, with 60 per cent missing a turn or exit and 33 per cent nearly crashing.
The list is topped by Sluts Hole Lane in Norfolk (38 per cent), followed by Butthole Lane in Leicestershire (37 per cent) and Bell End in Rowley Regis (36 per cent) — hardly names that keep eyes on the road.
Twatt in Orkney (35 per cent) and Northamptonshire’s The Knob (33 per cent) make up the top five, while Minge Lane in Worcestershire (32 per cent), New Forest’s Sandy Balls (32 per cent) and Slag Lane in Merseyside (30 per cent) are also favourites.
Derbyshire’s Fanny Avenue (29 per cent), Cocks in Cornwall (29 per cent) and Wetwang in Yorkshire (20 per cent) also featured in the Asda Money poll.
Some 63 per cent have taken a detour to see a funny street name, while 58 per cent have pulled over to photograph a humorous sign.
Asda Car Insurance covered signs on some of Britain’s most distracting roads with green velvet ‘modesty’ curtains this month to keep drivers’ eyes on the road.
The campaign marks Asda Money’s launch of new car insurance with Allianz this month.
