Maldon Car Show welcomes record crowds to Promenade Park

The show returned to Promenade Park on Sunday, September 13, drawing a record turnout and raising funds for charity through a display of more than 500 vehicles.

Organised by the Maldon Mud Race team, the event supports their fundraising efforts for Maldon and Essex charities, with proceeds set to be distributed in November 2026.

Brian Farrington, head of the organising committee, said: "We enjoy the support from many local companies but knowing you can rely on names like Borough Flooring and Home, GSM Motor Mechanics, Solitaire Heating and Plumbing, Heating Oil Today, FCJ Transport and Events Factor makes such a difference and we are so grateful to them.

"They deliver the same service to us as they do to all their customers and we are just amazed at how they always turn up for the charity so a very big thanks to them."

The event featured car care products from Essex-based Icanvalet.com, food from Maldon High Street restaurant Sark, and refreshments for all tastes and budgets.

Brian said: "The event was a another huge success but it would be difficult to deliver such a professional event without my great team and the support of Tesco and the Tesco ladies, headed up by Tesco Champion Rhiain Oakley, who did a superb job with our tea tent and Tombola, raising nearly £1,000 on their own!"

Despite mixed forecasts, the weather remained mostly dry, allowing visitors to enjoy the full day’s programme.

The free event featured classic and modern cars, buses, army vehicles, and displays from car clubs including Stag, Jaguar, Mercedes, Rolls Royce and Ferrari.

Car co-ordinator Roy Hemsworth said: "I’m very grateful to the clubs who came down and the many owners and prestigious names like PT Classics who supported us, transporting cars worth many thousands of pounds down at great expense for enthusiasts to enjoy."

Live music came from two bands, Nikki and the Switchblades and One Track Mind, with additional performances by The Busketeers Choir.

The stage was hosted by Matt Mackay of BBC Essex.

Brian said: "This community event is free for spectators and monies raised go to The Maldon Mud Race charity."
