Drivers are beginning to queue on the M11 after one lane was closed near a busy junction.
A broken-down vehicle led to the closure on the northbound carriageway between Junction 8 and 9, close to Stansted Airport.
The AA has reported increasing delays of about 23 minutes, with queues extending beyond Junction 8.
Average speeds are around 10 miles per hour.
Drivers are advised to allow for additional time if travelling through the area.
