Maldon District Council names new chairman and leader

Councillor Ron Pratt has been named chairman and Councillor Simon Morgan has taken on the role of leader of the council.

Mr Pratt said: "I am honoured to have been elected chairman of Maldon District Council for the coming municipal year.

"It is a privilege to represent the council and recognise the excellent work taking place across our community."

Mr Morgan said: "I am honoured to have been appointed as leader of Maldon District Council and I am grateful for the confidence shown by members.

"It is an important time for local government, with one of the biggest changes since 1974, and I will do my best to ensure that the council will continue to deliver on the priorities set out in our corporate plan and provide the best possible services for residents."
