A TEENAGE drug dealer who led police on a dangerous chase when officers tried to stop him near Mayland has been told he faces jail.

Davey Payne, 18, had been dealing cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis in the Burnham area when officers tried to arrest him in December 2024.

The defendant, who was 17 at the time he committed the offences, was in a Citroen Relay van when he tried to lose officers.

Court documents show he sped down Green Lane, Highlands Hill, Foxhall Road, Batts Road, The Street, Bradwell Road, Grange Avenue, Scotts Hill, and Burnham Road before he was finally stopped in Southfield Way in Southminster.

The defendant, of Albert Road, Burnham, admitted one charge each of being concerned in the supply of cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis.

He also admitted cannabis possession and dangerous driving.

He appeared before Chelmsford Crown Court with his family on Monday but a judge adjourned the case so the probation service could write an up-to-date pre-sentence report.

The Recorder, Mr Karl King, told Payne he will be sentenced on Monday, July 13.

He said: “Your case is not yet concluded.

“If you do not come to court on July 13 for your sentence, the prospects are the court could entertain whether to sentence you in your absence.

“It goes without saying between now and then you must not commit any other offences.”

Payne was released on bail.
