AN obsessed boyfriend stalked his pregnant partner, telling her he would cut up her ex and post him through her letterbox.
Connor Jay Good-Halls, 25, had been in a relationship with the woman but the two fell out during a holiday to Tenerife in September.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard Good-Halls called her a “whore” and a “dirty scumbag”, causing the woman to lock herself in a bathroom.
Leanne Hemming, prosecuting, said another argument in October involved the woman walking out of Good-Halls’ caravan before the defendant chased her and tried to stop her driving away.
After she ended the relationship, Good-Halls hounded her with phone calls – including 669 in one day – both from his own mobile and a withheld number.
He also sent a series of messages which read, “You get rid of my kid, see what happens”, “I’m going to petrol bomb your parents’ house”, and “I’m going to text your ex-boyfriend, cut him up and post him through a letterbox”.
The defendant, of Main Road, St Lawrence, Maldon, was charged with one charge each of stalking involving fear of violence, false imprisonment, and controlling and coercive behaviour.
He also faced three counts of assault by beating.
He was due to stand trial but admitted two lesser charges – one each of stalking without fear of violence and controlling and coercive behaviour – on the first day of the trial.
In a victim impact statement, the woman said Good-Halls’ treatment of her caused her severe anxiety, which means there are times she can only eat one meal a day.
She also fears for her friends’ and family’s safety, and struggles to do her job, which involves her working in Chelmsford and Colchester.
Sentencing Good-Halls, who had been on remand for six months, Judge Jamie Sawyer accepted the defendant's basis of plea that he did not intend to carry out any of the threats he made.
But he added: “This is simply not the way that you should react in a relationship – engaging in that level of persistent contact is absolutely unacceptable in terms of conducting a relationship with someone.”
Good-Halls was jailed for 10 months and ordered to serve a five-year restraining order, preventing him from contacting his ex-girlfriend.
The judge told Good-Halls he will be released from prison imminently because he had already spent more than half of the 10-month period in custody.
