DOGS will take centre stage as part of a new Best in Show competition at the Maldon Mud Race.
Around 20,000 spectators are expected to attend the race in Promenade Park on Sunday, April 26, with many bringing their dogs.
Dogs can enter the competition, organised by The Dog Club, for a chance to win a Dog Club hamper with treats, a poo bag holder and a collar and lead set.
Jessica Gilmour, owner and founder of The Dog Club, said: "We love the race and wanted to get involved and this is a great way to meet dog owners and support the charity.
"We are so excited to be involved and look forward to seeing some of the area’s lovely pet owners and their dogs."
The Dog Club, based at Stock Hall in Ulting, is a five-star licensed dog daycare and boarding facility offering specialised care across three acres, including training, grooming, and transport services.

Their stand at the race will provide water, treats, and poo bags for visiting dogs.
Maldon Mud Race representative Brian Farrington said: "When we set up each year for the race we are always amazed at the number of good-looking dogs in the park so we wanted to do something to include them.
"The competition will launch on social media ahead of the day so please do send pictures of your pets and enter to win this great prize from Jessica at the Maldon Dog Club and in turn, support Maldon Mud Race."
