LIGHTING and other assets have been damaged in Maldon’s Promenade Park as the police said they will patrol the area to prevent further incidents.

The police said items installed for the enjoyment of the community have been deliberately damaged, including lighting and other park assets.

In response, the Maldon Town Team, supported by the Community Safety Team at Maldon District Council, has been conducting high‑visibility and plain‑clothes patrols throughout the area.

These patrols will continue as part of a targeted operation to identify those responsible and prevent further incidents.

On Thursday, the force was pleased to see the park being used positively by a boxing group and running group – as the space was intended for.

Sergeant Dalby said: “We will not tolerate mindless criminal damage to important community assets.

“We will be running this operation for the foreseeable future and if we identify individuals engaged in criminality and anti‑social behaviour, you will be dealt with.”

“We have also seen an increase in the use of illegal e‑scooters and e‑bikes within the park and surrounding area. We would like to remind the public that these vehicles are illegal to use on public land and highways. Any illegal e‑scooters or e‑bikes being used in public will be seized.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said their teams will continue to work together to keep Promenade Park safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
