TRIBUTES have been paid to a loving husband and father who lit up every room after a 22-year-old man admitted causing his death by dangerous driving.

On October 22, 2024, emergency services were called to a crash shortly after 9.30am on which involved three cars on the A12 near Kelvedon.

Norman Case, 58, the driver of a VW Polo, sadly died at the scene.

One driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and subsequently released under investigation while Essex Police investigated.

Ismaeel Malik, 22, of Bledlow Ridge, in High Wycombe, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Malik appeared in court today to admit the offence.

He will be sentenced on April 29.

Norman Case, a technology expert, grew up in west London and moved to Tolleshunt Major to marry his wife Sarah in 2006.

The couple had their son Fraser in 2007 and daughter Kate in 2009.

Norman’s wife Sarah said: “Everyone loved Norm, he had a smile that lit up every room, he had time and a nickname for everyone, he was a genuinely kind and thoughtful man that loved life, his family and friends.

“Life will never be the same without Norman Case.

“He adored being a dad and was strict but fair, he liked nothing better than spending time playing sport with Fraser and Kate and enjoying daddy daughter days. Holidays always involved sport - tennis, padel, golf, as well as family and friends, wonderful times that no longer, and never will, feel the same without Norm.”

One of Norman's fondest memories was his first family trip to watch an Arsenal game, and he continued to take the family to Arsenal as often as he could.

Norman played alongside Fraser for Maldon Cricket Club’s third team and took a keen interest in Kate’s love of athletics.

He helped her in events such as the hurdles, long jump, triple jump and high jump.

Sarah said the day Norman died was a day which family and friends would never forget.

She said: “After dropping Fraser and Kate at the school bus stop, they would never have imagined not seeing their father alive again.

“Mr Malik caused Norman's death, and all our lives will never be the same again.

“Norm was the life and soul of our family, now there is a massive void that will never be filled. Even everyday things like eating dinner together or watching sport on the TV, with the constant 'Norm' commentary, have changed forever.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the police for all their support, particularly PC Jacob Harvey and DC Edward Gosling.”
