HISTORY enthusiasts will be able to step back in time at a First World War living history event in Stow Maries.
The event takes place on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 at Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, and will run from 10am to 3pm on both days.
The weekend is one of the aerodrome's added value events, which offers enriched experiences included in the regular entry fee.
Unique to this event, attendees can use their tickets for entry on both days at no additional cost.
The aerodrome served as a base for the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) during the Great War.
The skilled pilots and support crew of the RFC Stow Maries devoted much of their operational time until May 1919 to protecting the skies of Essex and the surrounding areas from Zeppelin and bomber threats sent by Imperial Germany.
The weekend aims to bring the aerodrome's past to life as living historians recreate scenes and narratives from this critical period in history.
Visitors can engage directly with members of the Lufberys RFC Living History Group to gain a deeper understanding of life during the war.
Other historic groups will share the secrets of life in the Great War, from weapons and clothing to the food people ate.
Also joining the event will be online flying historian Kelsy Ellington.
A spokesperson said: "Come along to learn all about what life was like for these intrepid sorts, their ground crew and the many other roles that worked so hard to keep the aircraft flying."
Attendees should note this is not an air event.
Visitors wishing to attend in World War I period attire are encouraged to contact info@stowmaries.org.uk for a potential reduction in admission fees.
Within the standard entry fee, participants gain access to all the scheduled events, in addition to various exhibitions and tours.

For members of the Propeller Club, this event will be completely free.
For safety reasons, only well-behaved dogs on short leads will be allowed on the premises.
