A court has shown mercy to a repeat offender, who was caught drug driving in Heybridge.

Jordan Gomm was caught driving his Ford Fiesta in October last year despite losing his licence for previous driving offences.

The 26-year-old appeared before Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday again as a blood sample he had given that day had to be returned with an analysis report.

It confirmed 3.1micrograms of THC in his blood, exceeding the legal limit of the drug.

Gomm, of North Street, Tolleshunt, admitted one count of drug driving.

The bench at Colchester deemed it inappropriate for the sentence to exceed his previous punishment, as it was not his fault the analysis took long.

He received a 12-month conditional discharge and has to pay a £26 victim surcharge.

His road ban was set at 36 months.

Before leaving the court he was warned not to drive again, as it could result in a prison sentence for him, to which Gomm said: “I’m not driving. I’m not doing this no more, mate.”
