Maldon District Council has begun a programme of essential improvement works to car parks and open spaces across the district, helping to ensure facilities remain safe, accessible and well maintained throughout the year.

Work has started today at White Horse Lane Car Park in Maldon, where the rear section of the car park is undergoing full resurfacing and the parking bays are being repainted. The works are expected to last approximately two weeks.

During this time, there may be periods of reduced or no access. Clear signage will be displayed on site, including directions to nearby alternative car parks where available.

In addition to White Horse Lane, several other improvement schemes are scheduled over the coming weeks:

  • White Horse Lane Car Park – Full resurfacing and relining of the rear car park for 2 weeks, starting 26 January
  • Longfield Footpaths (near the Doctor’s Surgery) – Resurfacing and re-bedding works for 3 weeks, from 2 February
  • Promenade Park – Emergency Access Road – Full resurfacing works for 1 week, starting 9 February
  • Cobbins Chase – Full resurfacing works for 1 week, starting 16 February
  • Millfield’s Car Park – Full resurfacing and relining of the rear car park for 2 weeks, from 23 February
  • Butt Lane Car Park – Structural strengthening works with surfacing repairs for 4 weeks, from 2 March

The Council regularly inspects its car parks and open spaces to identify issues and schedule repairs. Residents wishing to report a problem can do so via the Council’s website at www.maldon.gov.uk/contact or by calling 01621 854477.

The Council has thanked residents and visitors for their patience while these works are carried out to improve local facilities across the district.
