A man from Heybridge was caught driving while high on drugs in Essex.
Daniel Sparton, 34, was stopped by police officers on June 18 last year while driving a Ford Fiesta along Spickle Road, Maldon.
Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard on Thursday, Sparton underwent a saliva test, which came back positive for THC.
A blood test at Chelmsford police station confirmed, with a result of eight micrograms per litre, he had been driving under the influence of the drug.
Sparton, of Goldhanger Road, admitted one count of drug driving.
He said: “I realise what I’ve done is wrong. I accept all responsibility. That’s all I have to say.”
The bench fined him £509 for the offence, and ordered him to pay £204 as a victim surcharge and costs of £100. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
