A CONVICTED drug dealer who was found with cannabis in his vehicle told magistrates he will borrow money from his grandmother to pay the fine.

Connor Wright, 27, was stopped in Southminster in October and officers searched his vehicle.

Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court heard police found a small bag of cannabis in the car.

The defendant was later charged with possession of controlled drug, which he admitted.

Janine Rigg, prosecuting, said Wright had previous convictions for drug dealing and was jailed for the offences when he was a teenager.

Wright, of Hadrians Way, Heybridge, told magistrates he will borrow money to pay the fine.

He said: “I can probably borrow some money off my nan until I get paid or something.”

Wright, who was unrepresented, added he has been out of work for two months but is set to start a new role in the New Year.

He continued: “I’m guilty, I will pay the fine and apologise – I start a new role on January 5.”

Wright said he previously earned about £120 a day.

Magistrates fined him £80 and ordered him to pay £110 in costs as well as a £32 victim surcharge.
