Maldon was awash with festive cheer this weekend.

On Sunday, December 14, the David Randall Foundation hosted its much-loved Santa Fun Run, drawing a fantastic crowd of runners, walkers and families to the Promenade park.

The David Randall Foundation was conceived by members of Maldon Cricket Club in February 2012 when David Randall (aged 26), a member of the club since the age of 6, was diagnosed as having terminal cancer.

Participants of all ages turned out in force, dressed head-to-toe in Santa suits, creating a sea of red as they took part in either the 5km Santa Fun Run or the 3km Reindeer Run and Treasure Hunt.

The event was filled with laughter, Christmas spirit and a strong sense of community, as friends, families and supporters came together for a fun-packed day.

The Reindeer Run and Treasure Hunt proved popular with younger participants, while the 5km route saw Santas of all speeds enjoying the festive challenge through Maldon. Spectators lined parts of the course, cheering on the runners and adding to the lively atmosphere.

The Santa Fun Run once again proved to be a highlight of Maldon’s festive calendar, bringing the community together for a great cause and a memorable day.
