THE Maldon Mud Race is donating to three Essex charities through the Big Give, with match funding set to double contributions.

This will see an extra £8,000 delivered by the scheme.

Sarah Weller, treasurer for the Maldon Mud Race, said: "We are always looking at ways to achieve match-funding.

"If any companies would like to work with us on this initiative, please get in touch via our website maldonmudrace.com – it would be amazing to turn our £30,000 into £60,000 next year and the right partner could help us achieve this."

The next Maldon Mud Race is set to take place on April 26 next year at Promenade Park.

Among the beneficiaries is Homestart Essex.

Melissa Armitage from Homestart said: "Every penny counts and to get an opportunity to match-fund like this will enable us to cover so more home visits and help a great deal of Children across Essex and the link to our fundraising is detailed below:"

The funding will also support Essex Wildlife Trust’s conservation work.

Michelle Shepherd from Essex Wildlife Trust said: "One in six UK species are at risk of extinction as their habitats become fragmented.

"We are raising funds to extend our beautiful Wrabness reserve on the River Stour, which provides a vital haven for wildlife and to add match funding for donations is invaluable."

Farleigh Hospice will also benefit from the match funding.

Debbie De Boltz, fundraising director, said: "Huge thanks to Maldon Mud Race for offering to make the donation on our match funding campaign which launches today and Farleigh Hospice is encouraging everyone to Give the Gift of Nursing Care Today via the Big Give as everyone with a life-limiting illness deserves care that honours their choices.

"We are so grateful to the Maldon Mud Race for doubling their donation to us this year."

Donations made through the Big Give platform between December 2 and December 9 will be doubled, offering donors the chance to maximise their impact.

Supporters are reminded to opt out of adding a tip to the Big Give during the checkout process, as this would reduce the total amount received by the charities.
