A man has been disqualified from driving for a year after admitting to have taken drugs behind the wheel.
In the early hours of June 6, Frankie Dawson, 39, was stopped by Essex Police officers in Well Lane, Danbury.
Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard on Wednesday the officers became aware of the white Citroen Berlingo not because of the way it was driven but due to the poor state of repair.
Elisabeth Connor, prosecuting, told the court Dawson, who had a passenger with him, was stopped, and a roadside test returned positive for cocaine.
A further blood test at a police station confirmed the positive result for the drug.
Dawson, of Oakmere Avenue, Potters Bar, appeared without legal representation before the Colchester court.

He said he had picked up a family friend, as his father had already taken sleeping tablets and was unfit to drive.
He said: “I was about to fall asleep, and he gave me a little bit of cocaine.
“I don’t like uninsured drivers. Two years ago, I was hit by one. It will not happen again.”
Dawson, who had admitted one count of drug driving, driving without a licence and without insurance, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £120 for the first charge.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £48 and court costs of £85.
No separate penalty was issued for the lack of insurance and licence, however, his licence was endorsed with the offences.
