AN artisan coffee shop is celebrating a year at its new premises and a successful series of events after fighting to stay in business.
Natasha Flynn founded Tash’s Artisan Coffee Shop more than two years ago to “bring coffee to the community in the meadow”.
She had her bespoke coffee van built from nothing and set up shop on a friend’s private land in Wickham Bishops, where dog walkers, bike riders and horse riders would come for coffee and sweet treats.
But after a year of trading, Maldon District Council denied her planning permission to continue trading and her coffee shop was forced to close, leaving her temporarily unemployed.

Thanks to loyal customers and support, Tasha was able to bounce back and reopen her shutters in Maypole Road at Maypole Pet and Garden Centre each week from Thursday to Sunday.
Tasha said: “This Sunday, I’ll celebrate one year at Maypole with a pink G&T.
“I’ve ventured out on a few big events this year, learning as we go and saying ‘Yes’ to opportunities.
“This Friday, I’ll be working hard to get organised and take my coffee truck for the Maldon Promenade Fireworks night on Saturday.”
Tasha is grateful for the support and opportunities to continue her business in the community.
In the last year, she has traded at Highlands Estate, Writtle Jazz Festival, and the famous Maldon Mud Race, and she is excited for the three-day Ernest Doe Show in the new year.

She said the battle to save her business taught her to be strong and carry on.
Tasha said: “I feel grateful for the local community who continue to enjoy my coffee and delicious delights.
“I feel a sense of willpower and achievement to continue with my business, I enjoy making everything.
“I love what I do – I get a little stressed, but it’s worth it.”
