RECORD-BREAKING crowds are expected to attend this year's fireworks display in Maldon.
The Maldon Fireworks, organised by the Maldon Rotary Club, take place on Saturday, November 1 at Promenade Park.
Visitors can enjoy food and drink and a packed performance line-up from 6pm.
BBC Essex's Matt Mackay is supporting the event, and there will be performances from young performer Alfie.Rocks.Guitar, soul legend Irie Jay and group Funk2k.
Brian Farrington, chairman of the organising committee, said: "We are thrilled and grateful to have the support of many local companies, including Heating Oil Direct, Events Factor, Borough Carpets, Foulkes Electrical, GSM Motor Mechanics, FCJ Transport, Solitaire Heating and Plumbing Group and icanvalet.com, which allows the team to deliver something really special to the many visitors who come along to this sell-out event.
"We expect to welcome around 7,000 local residents and once again grateful to have BBC Essex for supporting the event, both in the lead-up and on the night itself.
"Their involvement is crucial in helping us raise awareness and achieve our fundraising goals."
The gates to the park will open at 5.30pm. The bonfire is scheduled to be lit at 7pm, and the fireworks display will start at around 7.30pm to 8pm.
There will be music before the fireworks and for 30 minutes after.
The organising committee emphasised that safety is a "top priority" at the event.
Brian said: "We're committed to providing a memorable evening with spectacular fireworks from the company who orchestrates displays on the Thames in London at New Year, all synchronised to music.
"We hope the community continues to support the event, enabling us to contribute to local charities.
"Last year, thanks to the incredible support of attendees, we distributed over £25,000 to good causes.

Tickets, which are already selling fast, must be purchased online in advance from maldonfireworks.co.uk.
Prices are free for under-fives, £7 for ages six to 17, £9 for adults, and £26 for a family ticket.
