EL Guaca Mexican restaurant has been a mainstay on Maldon's High Street for more than a decade.
Serving up delicious food and colourful drinks it offers a family friendly setting.
Maldon’s colourful and thriving High Street is crammed full of places to dine with venues needing to stand out to attract to gain custom.
At the top of the High Street, and near where I parked, the EL Guaca restaurant on the outside stood out on a hot Friday lunchtime with its sleek black exterior and substantial size.
Attractive - The outside of EL Guaca looks professional and stylish (Image: Newsquest) Before I went in, I had a look at the very large menu showing sections from Taco Salads to seafood to sizzing fajitas.
I chose to order from the street food options which said if you combined two dishes you would receive a free side of either fries or rice.
This was the only deal advertised on the board, and I also thought it would be a great way to review a selection of food.

Colourful - The colourful restaurant would be a perfect place to hang out to drink cocktails before a night out (Image: Newsquest) I was greeted by two warm and welcoming hosts and was alone in the restaurant until a a grandmother and child arrived later.
I was presented with a drink menu choosing a mocktail pina colada which at £5.50 was well priced and very refreshing.
Fun - The piñata colada mocktail was a fun choice (Image: Newsquest) I chose a chicken quesadilla, £15, and to be more daring fish tacos, £12.50, and in the deal, these two mains together came with seasoned fries which would have cost £4.50.
Together the food was a huge portion – the meal kept me full throughout the day – and the fish tacos in particular were very moreish, a delicate flavour complimented by the refined lime dressing.
Size - The fish tacos in particular would not feel like a full main dish on their own (Image: Newsquest)
Tasty - The chicken quesadillas would be liked by many (Image: Newsquest) Another highlight was the generous sides including the sour cream which had a more subtle and less tangy taste.
Having totalled up the prices, it was a more expensive meal that other places.
It is also worth noting a service charge is automatically added to the bill.
I would recommend this restaurant to any fans of Mexican cuisine.
