Visitors can travel through 900 years of history during a special time-travelling weekend in Purleigh.

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome will host its Living History Weekend on July 19 and 20, bringing the past to life with immersive displays, re-enactments, and interactive experiences spanning nearly a millennium.

Living historians from across the country will transform the museum grounds into a tapestry of historical eras, from the medieval Barons’ Wars through to the Victorian era and both world wars.

"Meeting and engaging with people who are wearing the clothes, eating the food, and telling the tales of centuries gone by gives a fascinating glimpse into the way we used to live.

"With so many different periods in history represented, we are looking forward to an excellent weekend."

Their displays will cover everything from crossbow-making and 13th-century music to Royal Navy life aboard HMS Warrior and the witch-hunting era in Essex.
