Essex's Writtle College has been praised by Ofsted for its "strong" curriculum and industry-focused approach.

The college, now part of Anglia Ruskin University, earned a "good" rating in all categories during its first Ofsted inspection since joining the university group.

Inspectors highlighted the college’s hands-on learning, expert teaching, and close ties to employers as key strengths.

Philip Grant, principal of Writtle College, said: "We are proud of this outcome, which reflects the college’s commitment to excellence and community impact in the land-based education sector as well as the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the strength of our partnerships.

"This is a significant milestone in our journey as part of Anglia Ruskin University, and we remain focused on continuous improvement."

Ofsted noted that students are developing business-relevant skills in areas such as customer service, pricing, and the use of industry-standard tools.

The college was also commended for its support of students with high needs and those who have previously struggled in education.

Writtle College offers Level 2 and 3 courses, including T-Levels and apprenticeships, for both school leavers and adult learners.
