A group of preschoolers have been given a hands-on introduction to the world of waste and recycling.
The visit took place at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK’s depot in Maldon and offered the children an up-close look at how waste is managed.
Organised by Ofsted-registered childminders, the visit was part of the children’s "People Who Help Us in the Community" learning programme.
A childminder spokesman said: "The children had a fantastic time and were so excited to try everything.
"We really appreciated the team’s time, patience, and enthusiasm.
"I have no doubt they’ll be telling their parents all about it."

During the visit, children explored a service truck, sounded the horn, tried on safety gear, and learned about the processes behind waste collection.
The experience was designed to introduce them to sustainability in a fun and memorable way.

Barry Dolphin, contract manager at SUEZ, added: "It’s always a pleasure to welcome young people to our depots and help them understand the important role waste and recycling plays in our communities.
"Engaging with children at such an early age is a great way to build awareness about sustainability and inspire the next generation."
SUEZ says it values supporting educational activities that raise awareness about the importance of waste management and environmental responsibility.
The company stated that visits like this help connect young people with the work that keeps communities clean, safe, and sustainable.
