British blues and Americana artist Richard Townend is set to release his 16th studio album, "4000 Weeks", at the Maldon Music and Arts Festival.
The new record, described as "dynamic" and "deeply textured," is the result of a musical collaboration with Matt Gillam on bass and Mark Hall on drums.
This collective effort from The Mighty Bosscats will officially launch on June 27.
Mr Townend's signature guitar work and storytelling are accompanied by Gillam’s "rich, driving bass lines" and Hall’s "dynamic, intuitive drumming", creating a "fluid, conversational sound".
The album, which "pulses with authenticity", showcases the combined chemistry and craftsmanship of the trio.
With a career that spans decades and continents, Mr Townend has toured the USA, Europe, and Australia.
A graduate of Leeds College of Music, he began his career touring with icons such as Ronnie Corbett, Charlie Drake, Les Dennis, Dana, The Platters, and Tony Christie before forging his own path.
Since 2011, Townend and The Mighty Bosscats have released 16 critically acclaimed albums, earning six British Blues Awards nominations.
Townend’s songwriting has drawn comparisons to JJ Cale, Chris Rea, and Dire Straits, praised in publications like Americana UK, Blues Matters, and Elmore Magazine for its evocative narratives and atmospheric compositions.
He has also earned six British Blues Awards nominations.
To mark the release of 4000 Weeks, The Mighty Bosscats will record a live album and film a documentary during their June 27 album release session at the Maldon Music and Arts Festival in Essex UK.
The evening will feature both acoustic and electric sets, further cementing the band's collective approach to music-making.
Jevon Ellis will join the band on keys, bringing his own unique magic to this one-night-only performance.
