Dozens of children can enjoy free adventure days aboard historic Maldon barges, thanks to a £1,000 grant.
The new funding, provided by the Essex Community Foundation to the Thames Sailing Barge Trust, will allow children to take part in free activity sessions aboard the Centaur for another year.
These sessions are open to children aged five to 11 and will include learning about the history of the barge, art activities, learning to tie knots and hoist the sails.
The sessions will take place on four days this year, starting at 11am on Thursday, April 17.
There will also be a session in June and two in August, with dates to be announced.
The trust spokesman said: "Storytelling sessions are also planned for later this year."
Each one-hour session is free, including activity books for participants.
The trust added: "However, donations to the trust would be most gratefully received."
As spaces are limited, parents are encouraged to book early to secure a place by visiting the Thames Sailing Barge Trust's events page.
