A BUSY road in an Essex village is set to be temporarily close overnight this week.

The B1023 West Street/High Street, Tollesbury, near Maldon, will be shut overnight from 8pm to 5am on both Wednesday, March 12, and Thursday, March 13.

The closure will be from The Gulf Garage/petrol station to the junction with East Street.

Essex Highways say it is so that resurfacing works can be carried out.

A spokesman for Essex Highways said: "As part of our Priority One Highways programme, we will be resurfacing the B1023 West Street/High Street, Tollesbury.

"Once the new surface is laid, we will re-allow access as soon as possible.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding while these important works are undertaken."
