A barbecue and outdoor cooking festival is set to return to an Essex town this summer.

Smoke and Fire Festivals, the UK's largest BBQ and outdoor cooking festival, will be coming to Promenade Park in Maldon on August 16 and August 17.

This year, the festival will have a "Large and Latino" theme, with the festival promising to be "even bigger and better with unique experiences and several firsts for foodie fans".

The festival will feature top chefs, butchers, and food artisans from the culinary world, who will showcase their skills to food and drink enthusiasts.

A "Latin and South American Quarter" will be created in collaboration with Tacover, the UK's largest taco festival, which will feature a variety of Latin and South American street food vendors.

These vendors will compete for the best margarita and best taco in the National Taco Awards.

The festival will also include the "Asado Grill Master Demonstration Stage", where legendary chefs will make their UK debuts.

Al Frugoni, a renowned Argentinian grill master, and Salva la Cocina, a viral sensation from Castelar, Argentina, will star alongside fire chefs from Mexico, Venezuela, and Brazil.

The "Ember Lounge" will provide an exclusive live-fire dining experience, with menus designed by invited fire maestros from across the globe.

The festival will also feature tribute bands Blurd vs Shoasis, who will battle it out on stage, promising an entertaining evening and the chance to relive the glory days of Britpop.

Other attractions include award-winning street food vendors, pop-up restaurants in BBQ Alley, a Real Ale and Cider Festival, Fire Pit Club VIP lounges with Champagne and cocktails, as well as DJs and music.

Fairground rides, bouncy castles, roaming entertainers, and a bucking rodeo bull contest will provide entertainment for families.

The festival will also host the British Open Freestyle BBQ Championships, with a cash prize and thousands worth of BBQ equipment and accessories up for grabs.

The winner will earn the chance to compete at the World Food Championships in Indiana, USA, in November.

Tickets for the festival start from £20 and can be purchased via https://www.smokeandfirefestival.com/tickets/
