High Street East car park in Maldon will now offer free parking for 30 minutes across seven bays.
The new parking bays have been marked out in the central, well-used car park, offering residents and visitors alike a chance to run errands without the worry of parking charges.
Maldon District Council leader Richard Siddall said: "We recognise that sometimes residents just need to park for a short period, so these free parking bays are ideal if you are popping into Maldon to run some quick errands.
"High Street East is a convenient car park for everything the High Street has to offer, and I’m pleased that these bays will help our residents in a rush.
"Of course, we encourage residents and visitors alike to support the High Street as much as possible.
"It offers independent shops, big name brands and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or have a leisurely lunch."
In addition to the free parking allowance, there are approximately 500 further parking spaces across Maldon's car parks.
