Essex charity Heads2Minds is set to broaden its support for children with mental health challenges, after a funding boost from house builder Persimmon.

The charity received a £1,500 grant through the Community Champions scheme run by Persimmon Homes Essex.

The additional funds will be instrumental in expanding the reach of the charity across the county.

Liz Rotherham, CEO and founder of the Maldon-based charity, said: "We are grateful for this donation and cannot thank Persimmon enough for their generosity.

"We are looking to go into schools and offer mental health and wellbeing support for children of all ages, teaching them coping strategies for future life."

Offering various services for adults and young people grappling with mental health issues, Heads2Minds delivers holistic therapies, counselling, group therapy and psychotherapy.

The charity also imparts a mental health first aider training programme, with specialists providing different services.

Maldon District Council Richard Siddall recently visited the charity's new office.

He said: "I was extremely interested to hear about the work the charity conducts across Essex and how it supports the wellbeing of children.

"I am sure the money presented to the charity by Persimmon Homes Essex will help fund their growth and development and increase the support they can provide."
