A WOMAN who campaigns in memory of her grandson who was fatally stabbed has won the Prime Minister’s Points of Light award.

Julie Taylor's grandson Liam Taylor was fatally stabbed outside the Rose and Crown Pub, in Writtle, in 2020.

Since then Julie, who has run the café in St Peter’s Hospital for 12 years, has worked hard to battle knife crime.

She has funded countless lifesaving first aid kits which have been installed outside more than 100 venues in Essex and London.

Since The Liam Taylor Legacy was founded, Julie has also visited schools, prisons and youth clubs to try to educate children about the dangers of knife crimes.

Julie previously won a Pride of Britain award in November 2022 after raising approximately £37,000 for more than 250 life-saving kits, two defibrillators and 24-hour accessible cabinets to a range of venues.

She has also won a Platinum Hero award for her efforts in raising awareness of knife crime.

She said: “I’ve won awards before through the café and that. This award means so much more because it’s in Liam’s memory - the Liam Taylor Legacy.

“They asked if we could accept it on this day. It’s four years today since he was murdered. It just means so much.”

As part of being given the Points of Light award, Julie also received a handwritten letter and signed certificate from the Prime Minister.
