IT is a Friday afternoon when I pay a visit to the Continental Café in Maldon, located at 38 High Street.

I am particularly excited to try the café, having heard about Olly Murs’ recent visit and look forward to the experience.

The establishment offers a breakfast menu until 11.30am.

Offerings include scrambled eggs and bacon, an American-style pancake stack, traditional French croissant and smashed avocado on toast with chili flakes.

Outside of breakfast, the wider menu includes toasted sandwiches, paninis, salads and baguettes.

As well as this, there are sweet treats such as pastries, doughs and custom made cakes.

Upon my arrival, I am warmly greeted by a member of staff, who seats me at a table.

After browsing the menu, I opt for a hog roast panini, which has coleslaw, tomatoes and cucumber on the side.

I thoroughly enjoy the panini - as a ‘late lunch’, it is filling and tasty, just what I need at this time of day.

I am aware Olly opted for cake during his visit, so I follow suit and order a cinnamon swirl Danish pastry and a latté to drink - a real treat on a Friday afternoon.

I am also very impressed by the staff, who are very attentive and friendly.

Overall, I have nothing but good things to say about the Continental Café and look forward to popping in again in the future.
