A PERSON has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis after a drugs raid uncovered a huge cannabis farm in Maldon.

Essex Police officers conducted a drugs bust in the Latchingdon area before finding what they have described as a large cannabis grow.

Since then one person has been arrested.

Sergeant Dalby of the Maldon Town policing team said: “This is yet another excellent result by the team who work tirelessly and diligently to disrupt organised crime in Maldon.

“Whilst some people think that cannabis is a low level drug, there are exploitation and modern day slavery concerns that all feed into a bigger picture of criminality and organised crime.

“We will continue to target and disrupt these individuals at every opportunity.”

Anthony Fittock, ward councillor for Althorne and chair of Latchingdon Parish Council, said: "It is obviously a concern that the police have found a large amount of cannabis growing in the Latchingdon area, but I would like to congratulate the Maldon Town Police Team on their great work in swiftly arresting an individual of suspicion of cultivating cannabis."
