A care service is “extremely proud” following its latest inspection by watchdogs which highlighted the consistency of quality.

Maldon-based Mike Riglin Nursing was given an overall rating of 'good' after an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

In the areas of safety, effectiveness, responsiveness and leadership it was rated good, and in the area of caring it received an outstanding rating.

The home care service, based in West Station Yard in Spital Road, provides personal care and nursing care for adults of all ages, including care for people with dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and sensory impairments.

At the time of the inspection, staff were supporting 27 people living in their own homes.

The inspection report said the service is well-led with a clear management structure.

The inspector said: “People and their family members were, without exception, very happy with the service and the support provided.

“All told us they would recommend Mike Riglin Nursing to others. One relative told us, ‘I would absolutely recommend them. They are all excellent from my point of view.’

“Another said, ‘We are over the moon with them. I have recommended them to a friend of mine.’”

The communication between staff and patients and their families was praised by the inspector, who said: “Communication within the service was effective and responsive.

“People and their family members told us they were contacted should any arrangement change and kept informed when needed.”

Manager Mike Riglin said: “Following our recent inspection carried out by the Care Quality Commission we are delighted to have been rated as 'outstanding' in the ‘caring’ section of the report.

“All other areas remained a 'good rating'. It is rare to achieve an outstanding rating in ‘caring’ and this is a well-deserved recognition of the quality service our team provide to the people of Maldon and mid Essex.

“We are extremely proud of our team at Mike Riglin Nursing and the outcomes we are achieving for the individuals we care for.”
