CONTROVERSIAL plans have been submitted for a two-storey apartment building in Tiptree.

Plans for the construction of nine residential apartments in the centre of Tiptree have received 38 public objections on the Colchester Council planning portal.

Land at the rear of 100 Church Road in Tiptree could be used the new development.

The site was previously used for a large commercial building before it was demolished.

The developer states the site will benefit from a “car free approach” due to it being close to sustainable travel options and alternative car parking spaces.

Plans include communal gardens in addition to private balconies for six of the apartments.

Each floor of the building will provide space for two two-bedroom apartments and one one-bedroom apartment.

The developer said: “The proposal delivers a brownfield site in a sustainable location with a sustainable form of development that will provide private housing for individuals seeking new accommodation in Tiptree.”

Residents expressed concerns about the lack of parking facilities.

One villager said: “I can see serious problems with access to this site and total lack of any provision for parking or deliveries.”
